In The Wonderful Wizard of Oz the forest animals were terrorized by a giant spider. It was the Lion who was sent to destroy it and become king of the forest.
Although I have received many compliments on the cover of "The Forest Monster of Oz," I have to admit that this, the title character, wasn't on it. This would have at least shown potential readers exactly what sort of a "monster" the title was referring to.
